The company earned during the first two quarters of the year 10,081 million dollars, practically double what was obtained in the first half of 2019. Its turnover stood at 36,423 million dollars during the first six months of 2020.

It should be noted that during the first quarter of last year Facebook had to face significant fines, which weighed down its accounts and this means that growth is now higher. In any case, it is highly significant that while other social networks such as Twitter see their revenues fall due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Facebook continues to increase them even though the main advertisers have even announced a boycott against the platform.

On the other hand, confinement also explains the increase in users on the social network – as has also happened in the cases of Twitter and Snapchat – since spending more time at home, more people have decided to open an account on the platform.

Facebook has increased the number of daily active users by 12% in the last three months, reaching 1,790 million (remember that Twitter has 188 million and Snapchat 238 million). For its part, if monthly active users are counted, the company has already exceeded 2.7 billion, which also represents a growth of 12% compared to the first quarter of the year.

According to company data, 3.140 million people use at least once a month any of the Facebook applications: the social network itself, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, or WhatsApp.
