This year Huawei launched the Kirin 990 and Kirin 990 5G processors, which were present in their best phones and proved to be one of the best in the market. Now, for the coming year, they are already preparing a new processor called Huawei Kirin 1020 and whose code name is “Baltimore”. Let us not forget that Huawei usually puts city names on its chips, so this should not surprise us.
Below, we present all the information that has been leaked so far on this new processor for the high-end Huawei of 2020.
What will the Huawei Kirin 1020 be like?
The first data that has been filtered from Huawei Kirin 1020 is that it will be manufactured using the 5 nm TSMC process. That means it will be more energy-efficient and will have a more stable performance than the Kirin 990 that is manufactured using the 7 nm TSMC process. However, the biggest leap of this Kirin 1020 is in the processing cores.
And it is that the Huawei Kirin 1020 will use the Cortex-A78 cores, which we can already see in other high-end SoCs as in the MediaTek Dimensity 1000. If we compare these cores with the Cortex-A77 of the Kirin 990, we can deduce that by architecture the Kirin 1020 performance will be 50% better than that of Kirin 990.
Also, considering that the Kirin 990 is already very fast, then there is no doubt that the Kirin 1020 will be a beast. For now, that’s all we know about Huawei’s new high-end SoC. Nothing is known about your GPU yet, but when new data is leaked here on Post Journal we will inform you immediately.
