At the end of September 2019, OnePlus announced the first of its two flagships of the second half of the year, OnePlus 7T, and a few weeks later, unveiled the most powerful model, OnePlus 7T Pro.
The OnePlus 7T Pro comes with a 6.7″ AMOLED display with 90 Hz frequency rate, Snapdragon 855+ processor, 8 GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, 48MP rear camera (wide-angle) + 8MP (telephoto) + 16MP (ultra-wide-angle), 16MP front camera and 4,085 mAh battery with 30W fast charge.

The new OnePlus 7T Pro is on sale for $899.99 through the OnePlus website and also on Amazon.

OnePlus 7T Pro Full Review

OnePlus made an important leap with the OnePlus 7 Pro that launched in the middle of last year and, on this basis, has made small improvements that have allowed it to launch the OnePlus 7T Pro with slightly higher hardware without raising the price.
Starting with its design, the OnePlus 7T Pro hardly presents changes compared to its predecessor. Its appearance is characterized by a full-screen front with minimal frames and a discreet pop-up mechanism that is only extracted when taking a selfie. This makes the device have one of the largest screen-to-body ratios we have seen, around 88%.
The OnePlus 7T Pro is a device of great size and considerable weight: it has a huge screen of 6.7″, a thickness of 8.8 mm and a weight of 206 grams. Therefore, if you don’t like bulky smartphones, you should look for other alternatives.
Both the screen and the glass at the back are curved at the sides. Although this brings a touch of sophistication to the design, the curvature of the screen produces the darkening of the image at the ends and this is not to everyone’s liking.
The Haze Blue color variant has a matte blue finish on the back that produces quite striking reflections and, in addition, the prints are hardly marked.
OnePlus uses Gorilla Glass 6 glass on the front and Gorilla Glass 5 on the back to improve resistance but, once again, has left the device without protection against water.
The OnePlus 7T Pro screen features a 6.67″ Fluid AMOLED panel with a 19.5:9 ratio that offers a Quad HD + resolution (3120 x 1440 pixels). Its most differential feature is its 90 Hz refresh rate, which offers a much more fluid visual experience when scrolling than normal 60 Hz panels, although it is expected that this year 2020 we will see many more smartphones with 90 Hz panels or even 120 Hz.
The screen covers 100% of the sRGB and DCI-P3 color ranges and offers three color modes: Intense, Natural and Advanced. The default color mode is Intense that offers saturated and colorful colors, but little true to reality, while in the Natural color mode, the color fidelity is very high.
The panel is capable of playing HDR10 + content and, in tests, YouTube and Netflix content in this format has been successfully reproduced.
Being an OLED panel, blacks are pure and the contrast is very high (theoretically, infinite). The maximum brightness of the screen is somewhat below what other high-end smartphones reach since it stays in about 581 nits. In any case, it is not something that worries us.
OnePlus incorporates the ‘Ambient Display‘ functionality so that the screen is illuminated when a notification arrives or when the phone is picked up, but it does not have an ‘Always On Display’ mode to display information permanently on the screen. That together with the absence of the notification LED means that we do not know when there is any pending notice.
OnePlus has incorporated a fingerprint reader under the screen that allows you to unlock the phone just by resting your finger on it, provided we have turned on the screen before (for example, by tapping on it while it is locked or lifting it from the table).
The fingerprint reader under the screen, the optical type (3rd generation), is quite reliable when identifying the fingerprint, although it is important to support a good part of the finger in the reading area. On the other hand, the unlocking process is extremely fast, more than other high-end smartphones.

OnePlus has also incorporated facial recognition but it is not as safe as that of the fingerprint and, in addition, since the front camera is emergent, it is much slower.
In terms of hardware, the OnePlus 7T Pro has very powerful components that have nothing to envy to other high-end smartphones of 2019.
It comes with a Snapdragon 855+ processor, 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and 256 GB UFS 3.0 storage. These are the most advanced components that we can find in a smartphone today, although soon the first smartphones with Snapdragon 865 and RAM LPDDR5 will begin to reach the market.

The OnePlus 7T Pro does not allow us to expand the storage by micro-SD card, so we must choose well between the storage variants. I would like OnePlus to offer a micro-SD card slot, as almost every manufacturer does.
The OnePlus 7T Pro has obtained excellent scores in all the tests. In the day-to-day, the OnePlus 7T Pro moves with extreme fluidity and this feeling also helps the screen at 90 Hz.
I have been able to measure stable rates of 30 or 60 FPS in games like Asphalt 9, Dead Effect 2 or Call of Duty. In the games section, it is worth mentioning that OnePlus incorporates a Game mode that allows us to better focus on our games and a Fnatic mode that increases the performance of the device while we play.
The OnePlus 7T Pro comes with a battery of 4,085 mAh that, although being a fairly large capacity, we cannot forget that it has to power a large 6.7″ screen at 90 Hz. In the battery test, the smartphone has obtained a good result but it is surpassed by some other flagships.
OnePlus incorporates its own Warp Charge 30T quick-charge system, which is capable of charging 70% of the battery in half an hour, and fully charging the phone in just over an hour.

To take advantage of this fast charge, we must make use of the USB cable and the charger that come in the box to take advantage of the high charging speed. However, we can also charge the phone quickly (although not so much) with a standard USB-PD charger. Once again, OnePlus has decided not to include wireless charging, despite having a glass back cover.
The OnePlus 7T Pro has stereo speakers that offer a pretty good sound, although somewhat unbalanced since the lower speaker is more powerful and sounds louder than the earpiece speaker.

The bottom speaker is in a position that is easy to cover by hand when holding the phone horizontally. Unfortunately, the company has decided to do without the 3.5mm headphone jack and doesn’t even include a 3.5mm USB-C adapter.
In the photographic section, the OnePlus 7T Pro has a very versatile triple rear camera consisting of a 12MP f/1.6 OIS main camera, 3X 8MP f/2.4 OIS telephoto camera, and a 16MP f/2.2 wide-angle camera.

In good light conditions, the images taken by the main camera are sharp and, when light is scarce, the snapshots offer good image quality, although, in my opinion, it does not reach the level of other flagships.
The OnePlus 7T Pro camera offers a Pro mode (only for the main camera) with many manual control options and the ability to save in RAW, as well as a Night landscape mode that allows you to increase exposure when taking photos at night and gives instead of photographs that look a bit artificial (the Night mode of the iPhone 11 Pro produces more natural results).
OnePlus also offers a Portrait mode to blur the background of the image that works very accurately. I advise you, however, to disable Beauty mode as it removes certain facial features. The Portrait mode uses the telephoto camera, so it does not distort the face with the fisheye effect that we see in other smartphones that use the main camera, but, in return, in low light, the quality suffers.
Speaking of the telephoto camera, it manages to approach us with a 3X optical magnification (in fact, like its predecessor, it is a 2.2X optical magnification and a subsequent cropping of the image ) and, in general, it offers a good result whenever there is abundant light since at night the image suffers a lot.
Finally, the ultra-wide-angle camera is my favorite when taking pictures of landscapes or monuments, as it offers a totally different perspective. The drawback is that in low light conditions the quality suffers due to the absence of optical stabilization and a more limited opening.
OnePlus has added a Macro mode that allows you to take pictures only 2.5 cm away. It is a useful way if you like to photograph details or small objects.
In video recording, the OnePlus 7T Pro offers 4K and 1080p recording modes at 30/60 FPS, as well as a slow-motion mode up to 480 fps. Now, it is only possible to record video in all modes with the main camera, since the ultra-angular camera is limited to 1080p / 4K at 30 fps and the telephoto camera at 1080p at 30 fps.
The front camera has a 16MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture and offers fairly good quality, although its wide viewing angle makes the face appear somewhat deformed if you do not move your hand far enough. This camera also offers Portrait mode functionality, which offers a good result.

The OnePlus 7T Pro comes with Android 10 and, above, the OxygenOS customization layer of the brand, which offers a user experience very close to pure Android.
OxygenOS offers interesting features above Android, such as double-tap screen power, gesture navigation, Night / Reading modes, Hidden Space, app protection, Fnatic game mode, Zen mode for disconnect from the smartphone or the Quick response in «landscape» (bad translation in landscape mode).
Another unique feature of the OnePlus 7T Pro is the Notification Slider switch, which allows you to quickly mute your phone so it doesn’t ring and/or vibrate. It is a very interesting addition that I would like to see on more smartphones.
The new OnePlus 7T Pro is on sale for $719.00 (8GB / 256GB) or $899.99 (McLaren Edition 12GB / 256GB) through the OnePlus website and also on Amazon.
Although the price of the OnePlus 7T Pro is not far from that of some high-end smartphones, it is still below many of them and also offers some unique features (although it also has some shortcomings).
If you are behind a high-end smartphone with a modern design, an excellent and huge screen, a very high performance, a versatile camera and an Android experience with advanced features but you don’t want to spend 900 dollars or more, the OnePlus 7T Pro is an excellent option.

The Best and Worst of OnePlus 7T Pro

Price and Competitors
The new OnePlus 7T Pro is on sale for $719.00 (8GB / 256GB) or $899.99 (McLaren Edition 12GB / 256GB) through the OnePlus website and also on Amazon.
OnePlus offers a Renover plan that gives you a discount on the purchase of the OnePlus 7T Pro if you deliver your old smartphone. For a OnePlus 7 Pro 256GB in perfect condition, the company gives you $ 317.66.
The price of the OnePlus 7T Pro is one of its main assets. The price difference between OnePlus devices and high-end smartphones from other manufacturers is no longer as pronounced as it was a few years ago, but it is also true that the shortcomings regarding these are also much smaller.
A natural alternative to the OnePlus 7T Pro is the OnePlus 7T ( $599 ), which notched OLED screen of 6.55″, Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage, 48MP camera (wide-angle) + 12MP ( telephoto) + 16MP (ultra-wide-angle), 16MP front camera and 3,800 mAh battery
The Huawei P30 Pro ( $685.00 (128GB), $733.99 (256GB) and $947.99 (512GB) ) is another interesting alternative as it has an OLED screen of 6.47″ Full HD +, Kirin 980 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128/256/512 GB of storage, quad rear camera 40MP + 20MP + 8MP + ToF, 32MP front camera and 4,200 mAh battery with direct and reverse wireless charging.
Although the Huawei Mate 30 Pro ( $ 1,029 ) has specifications higher than the P30 Pro, its high price and the absence of Google services makes, for the moment, a complicated alternative to the OnePlus 7T Pro.
The Samsung Galaxy Note10 + ( 256 GB for $639.99 instead of $1099.99, 512 GB for $739.99 instead of $1199.99) from Samsung online store ) has a large 6.8″ OLED screen, Exynos 9825 processor, 12GB of RAM, 256/512 GB of expandable storage via micro-SD, 12MP + 12MP rear camera (telephoto) + 16MP (large angular), 10MP front camera and 4,300 mAh battery with fast charging at 45W.
Another interesting competitor is the Pixel 4 ( $ 899.00 for the 64GB version and $ 999.99 for the 128 GB alternative ), which has a P-OLED screen of 5.7″ at 90 Hz, Snapdragon 855 processor, 6GB of RAM, 64/128 GB of storage, dual 12MP rear camera (wide angle) + 16MP (telephoto), 8MP front camera and 2,800 mAh battery. There is also a larger version, the Pixel 4 XL.
