Although the Android tablet market is not going through its best, some companies are still launching very interesting bets for all users. This is the case of Samsung with its Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, a tablet that we have analyzed for a few days and that has left us with a very good taste in the mouth.

This is a high-end product aimed at a niche market that wants to go beyond the multimedia content. During the analysis of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, we have realized that it is a very versatile product that can be used to play the most demanding video games and also to perform your day-to-day work.

In the current market, most manufacturers focus on launching very cheap products for a younger audience that wants to consume multimedia content on a larger screen than their mobile. Samsung in addition to attacking this niche also leaves us annually with a high-end tablet for the most demanding.

Maybe one of the points that we liked most about this tablet was the design. Its lines are designed perfectly and at no time we have the feeling of holding a mid-range or low-end tablet. It has a very unique front that is quite similar to what we see in Apple’s new iPad Pro. The main difference is that, in this tablet, we do not have the rounded corners of the screen because their angles are 90º.

The aluminum frames are perfectly finished and blend perfectly with the screen and the glass back. There are no sharp corners, something very positive in such a large device that you hold almost with both hands.

The back does not stand out too much in the design, it only has a camera, an LED flash, and the Samsung logo. The glass gives a very premium touch, although we believe that with aluminum, the total weight of the device could have been reduced.

In terms of connections, we have everything you need: 3.5mm jack, USB C and a 4-pin connector to anchor a keyboard. The speakers are 4 and are placed on the sides if we hold the tablet in a horizontal format.

It is a design that we have loved and we could only get one hit: the weight. In certain circumstances, it can be heavy to have the tablet in your hands for a long time, although it is something that happens with almost all devices of this size.

A 10.5-inch Super AMOLED Screen to Enjoy

The screen of this tablet has a size of 10.5 inches and a resolution of 1600 × 2560 pixels. Its density of pixels per inch is 287, and although you may think it is small, we can guarantee you that it is not at all like that. You will not notice the pixels at any time and you can enjoy games or movies with a very satisfactory experience.

The colors are typical that we see in the AMOLED panels. We can say that we are facing one of the best screens, we have seen on an Android tablet. The tactile response is perfect at all points and the quality of the panel shines in every action we take.

The brightness of the screen is quite good, both the maximum and the minimum. We can use the tablet at night without our eyes and also watch videos or work with light striking the screen.

We did not expect less from this panel, from which, we can not get any stick or loose point. Samsung knows how to manufacture panels and also makes clear in the tablet market.

Performance? Well … You Will Not Have Problems

We reached one of the most interesting points that the performance offered by the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4. This tablet is in the high range and not only for its design. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 6 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage.

In short, this set allows you to do anything. You can play all the games on Google Play, work with dozens of open tabs or watch content at very high resolutions. You can even edit photos or videos with the applications on Google Play.

Its fluency is extreme and we have not had any type of lag or slowing down of the system in the weeks that we have been testing it. We have been able to work writing articles on iPostJournal.com with several open Chrome tabs and the performance has never faltered.

In addition, thanks to its large internal space. There are no problems with overheating, so you will not have problems when playing or working with very heavy applications.

The S-pen, an Accessory Included and Very Functional

Yes, Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 has S-Pen. The functions are similar to those in the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, but with a larger size. We can make drawings on the screen, copy the text and draw in the Samsung own application. For years, we believe that it is one of the most functional accessories that there is in the market of tablets and mobile phones, although it is not included in the body of the Tab.

It is larger and its size is very similar to that of a ballpoint pen. This makes the S-Pen itself thicker than the tablet, so it is impossible to integrate inside. You will have to carry it with you in your pocket or in your backpack in order to use it.

Its button gives us shortcuts to write quick notes or take a screenshot and draw on it. The best news? It is not necessary to load it, a differential point with the Apple Pencil.

Camera, Autonomy, and Sound: Two Good and One Regular

The cameras in the tablets have never had much prominence. They are used more to take pictures of documents than to go around taking pictures of landscapes. Samsung knows and therefore does not incorporate its best sensor and technology. It is a camera that is not bad and that with its 13 megapixels allows us to take decent pictures. Of course, do not expect to have the same quality as a mobile of the same value.

We can say that the front camera has the necessary quality to be able to make conferences and everything looks perfect. It wanes when the light is poor. The best of this camera? It has facial unlocking and, therefore, it is not necessary to enter a pattern or password every time you want to access the tablet.

If we go to the audio section, we can list it as one of the best in the whole market. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 has 4 speakers placed on its sides. This allows us to have a sound experience that we have not seen so far on a tablet. It is possible to play and not cover all the speakers, which, together, create a sound atmosphere that is difficult to explain with words. Without a doubt, we can say that sound is one of the best points of this tablet.

The autonomy is another of the points that you must take into account when buying one of these devices. It has improved a lot compared to its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3. The new model can easily offer 9 or 10 hours of screen consuming multimedia content, playing and working.

Usually, this type of products does not leave home or office, so you can always get your hands on the charger to not run out of battery. One of the things that we liked most is that it includes a fast charger that recharges the battery in just over an hour and a half.

Conclusions of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4

During the weeks that we have been testing Samsung Galaxy Tab S4, we have realized that it is a very well finished device. Its screen is one of the strong points and its performance does not put any barrier when it comes to work or play. Enjoying Netflix or other streaming services is a real joy.

We believe that this tablet is not so focused on multimedia consumption, but rather on the job. You can replace laptops on many occasions, being much lighter and more portable than these. The S-Pen is perfect to take notes or enjoy drawing.

On the other hand, Android has a long way to go to offer a stable and efficient work ecosystem. So this tablet is recommended if you want to have a device that is halfway between a compact laptop and a mid-range tablet for watch movies and play.

How much? At the time of writing these lines, you can buy on Amazon for about 530 euros. Now you will be the one to decide if it is worth paying this money for a high-end tablet or choose another type of product.
